OPPO Reno2 series launches, as well as their first headphones

Photography powerhouse OPPO Reno2 Series lands, alongside hybrid noise-cancelling Wireless Headphones

OPPO New Zealand has unveiled the latest iteration of its popular Reno Series, launching two new Reno2 Series devices, as well as its first wireless headphones, the OPPO Enco Q1 headset.

The Reno Series is known for combining art and technology, complementing our lifestyle choices and style. The new OPPO Reno2 and OPPO Reno2 Z are no different and come packed with smart new features to unlock users’ creative potential, including a quad-camera set up, new photography and video capabilities, as well as an easy-to-use editing studio.

With a global heritage in audio technology, OPPO has also welcomed a pair of game-changing wireless noise cancelling headphones, the OPPO Enco Q1. The headphones include three types of immersive sound effects, 15-hour noise cancelling playtime and a super polished look and feel.

OPPO New Zealand Managing Director, Kevin Cho, believes the combination of the Reno2 Series and new wireless headphones will be a game-changer for Kiwis looking for a more immersive smartphone experience.

“Today, our smartphones are central to our lives. They are our camera, our video recorder, our music player, our on-the-go gaming console and video streaming device. They are so much more than just a phone. The Reno2 Series keeps pace with the demands of smartphone users today and offer so much more to help our customers unleash their creative potential,” he said.

“Combined with our new wireless headphones, Kiwis are in for a fully immersive smartphone experience, whilst doing so in style. OPPO continues to focus on making premium possible and these new devices do just that. We’re really excited to bring these to market and are looking forward to Kiwis getting hands-on and experiencing everything OPPO has to offer.”

The OPPO Reno2 Z ups the ante with new camera modes

The OPPO Reno2 Z  has a quad-camera set up, including:

  • 48MP Ultra-Clear main camera is powered by an extra-large ½” Sony IMX586 sensor, helping make your pictures clear and defined
  • An 8MP Wide Angle Lens, providing a 119° field of view, perfect for capturing expansive landscape shots
  • A 2MP Mono Lens and a 2MP Portrait Lens, offering new portrait modes with adjustable Bokeh HDR mode for both pictures and, for the first time, video

The quad-camera set up has also enabled OPPO to develop new camera functionalities introducing an all new Ultra Dark Mode, portrait modes and Bokeh functionality.

Ultra Dark Mode lets users clearly capture clear night scenes, even in cases where the ambient brightness is less than 1 lux. It only takes 2-2.5 seconds to capture an entire dark scene, making it one of the fastest night shooters on the market. OPPO has achieved this through its application of NPU to speed up the AI algorithm of night mode shooting (NPU Accelerator refers to the optimisation of the operation of Neural Network Processing).

For those who love taking portrait shots, the inclusion of a Mono lens and upgrades to the Portrait lens give users up to 7 different portrait modes and an adjustable Bokeh HDR mode. The Bokeh effect also works on the 16MP pop-up selfie camera, for picture-perfect selfies and videos.

Video is steady as she goes

OPPO has completely revamped its video capabilities, which include the Ultra Wide Mode on the camera, as well as new innovations with Ultra Steady Mode and a new video editing studio.

Ultra Steady Video Mode leverages Hybrid Image Stabilisation technology (a combination of electronic and optical image stabilisation) to ensure accuracy and improve anti-shake. It also includes a gyro sensor much like those used in action cameras. Together, with a frame rate of up to 60 fps and the ability to capture Ultra Wide Angle shots, video captured on the Reno2 Z is close to the quality level of purpose-built action cameras.

Further enhancing the video experience is the inclusion of OPPO’s unique one-tap video editing and sharing editor, called SOLOOP, letting customers efficiently and professionally edit the visual content they create. It will automatically add music to match with the timing and transitions of your footage so you can create a masterpiece in a minute. It also intelligently identifies the content within the albums for characters and scenes and offers up edit solutions.

A picture perfect viewing experience

To view all your captured content, OPPO has once again placed emphasis into the screen design. The OPPO Reno2 Z features a 6.5 inch AMOLED screen and a screen to body ratio of 91.1%. There’s no notch thanks to the pop-up camera and the screen is durable, thanks to 5th Generation Corning Gorilla Glass.

Additionally, the screen includes Hidden Fingerprint Unlock 3.0, giving users a brighter unlock area and faster unlocking speeds.

Reno2 Z packs a powerful punch

Powering the device is a large 4,000mAh battery, MTK P90 processor and up to 8GB of RAM, supported by 256 GB of storage. The MTK P90 processor, combined with Game Boost 3.0, further enhances the mobile gaming experience, giving OPPO users a competitive advantage through Touch Boost, Frame Boost and Engine Boost 2.0.

The OPPO Reno2 Z will run the latest version of ColorOS – ColorOS 6.1 – based on Android Pie 9.0 and will come in two unique colours – Luminous Black and Sky White.

“The OPPO Reno2 Z is the perfect device for customers that are after innovative, premium features at a very accessible price point. It’s a device packed with premium features, amazing capabilities, in a beautifully designed body. I believe it has truly made premium possible for all Kiwis,” said Cho.

OPPO Reno2 goes beyond premium with the addition of new innovations

But, that’s not all. As different customers have different preferences and different budgets, OPPO has launched the Reno2 Zs sibling – the Reno2, which includes additional innovations for those wanting more from their smartphone.

The Reno 2 includes many of the new innovations and ground breaking technologies seen in the Reno2 Z, such as the AMOLED panoramic screen, Quad-style camera set-up, Ultra Dark Mode, Ultra Steady Video, Bokeh effect Video and VOOC Flash Charge 3.0. However, it also includes a shark-fin pop-up camera, a bigger screen-to-body ratio of 93.1% with 6th Generation Corning Gorilla Glass, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G and comes in Ocean Blue.

Its camera setup also differs slightly, with a 13MP telephoto lens replacing the 2MP Portrait Lens. This not only enables up to 5x Hybrid and 20x Digital Zoom but has also enabled a new camera mode – Ultra Macro Mode – all of which are also available for video shooting.

Ultra Macro Mode lets users get even closer with their photos. Smartphones traditionally only have 10cm of shooting distance. With the Reno2, users can shoot down to 2.5cm from an object, for close range shots that capture details even our eyes can’t see.

Immerse yourself in sound

The OPPO Enco Q1’s hybrid active noise cancellation tunes out full noise at a tap, with a digital noise cancellation chip that accurately calculates and combats surrounding noise in real-time. Audio can play continuously for 15 hours with noise canceling on, or 22 hours with noise canceling off, with an in-built USB-C charging port for quick and easy recharge – it takes 10 minutes to charge the new headphones.

Users can enjoy clear and crisp audio across music, games, and video at their preference level, no matter what’s going on around them. While, environmental noise cancellation algorithm delivers consistently clear calls.

Ergonomically-designed for ultimate comfort, earbuds match the shape of the ear and headphones stay secure even when on the move. With a simple and stylish appearance, a lightweight and comfortable body, the OPPO Enco Q1 is a highly flexible headset, delivering a superior experience.
