With just a few more sleeps till the new season of HBO’s Westworld premieres on SoHo and NEON, we were lucky enough to get a quick update on what we can expect from star Evan Rachel Wood.
While tight lipped on plot spoilers, she said the entire cast was gobsmacked at the twists and turns as the futuristic drama tackles just what happens now the hosts have taken control of the park under the leadership of her character Dolores.
“It’s a sucker punch from the second the season starts. Blink and you’ll miss it! (Creators) Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan have us exploring things that I don’t think I’ve ever seen on a television show before – it’s so much bigger than we all thought.”
In a stunning twist at the end of season one, Dolores was also revealed as being the outlaw Wyatt, and Wood admits it has been fascinating playing such a complex character.
“Dolores is defined by only seeing the good in the world and Wyatt only sees the bad. So as she is conscious of both of them living insider her now I think she’s constantly at war with herself. But it also means she’s able to move in and out of these different roles on a whim depending on what situation she’s in,”
Wood said it’s inspiring playing such a strong character.
“Realising she needs Wyatt to survive, Dolores refuses to stop at nothing until she gets her power back. She’s a highly intelligent being– and now conscious – and in charge of leading the charge. It’s been a heck of a ride and I know fans will be as blown away by the new season as we all were,” she said.
Westworld season 2 premieres on SoHo and NEON on Monday April 23.
