Acorn is stepping into the past in April

If you are a bit sick of the age we are living in, well Acorn is bringing all kinds of options to revisit the past. From WW1 to 1975 and some era’s in between there are a few places you can visit form the safety of your couch.

April highlights coming to Acorn TV:

  • Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated BBC drama The Hour delves into the high stakes world of TV news in the 1950s. Starring Romola Garai (Emma, Crimson Petal and the White), Ben Wishaw (Brideshead Revisited) and Dominic West (The Wire, The Affair)
  • Series 3 of the slick procedural Balthazar starring Tomer Sisley (Messiah, We’re the Millers) arrives April 5th. After a taunting video message from his wife’s killer surfaced at the end of Series 2, Balthazar skipped town without a word to his friends but is soon dragged into investigating gruesome killings once again
  • Poldark, a true classic that first aired on Masterpiece Theatre in 1975 to an astonishing 15 million viewers, is a gripping romantic drama set in the 18th Century following America’s War for Independence. Described by The Guardian as “solid if not untouchably brilliant”
  • Based on the novel of the same name by Laurie Lee the BBC adaption of Cider with Rosie takes a delicate and touching approach to a coming of age story in a remote English village post WW1.Starring Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Sweeney Todd, Vanilla Sky) and Samantha Morton (In America, Minority Report)
