With the current situation in the world ANZ has thrown some time and money into making a new way for us to support our Olympians and Paralympians.

The ANZ Support Band is a wearable device that uses Bluetooth technology to allow fans to show their support by tapping the wristband, similar to a Fitbit. Athletes in Japan will then be able feel a vibration of support via their own wristband.

Initially developed for NZ athletes, the New Zealand Olympic and Paralympic Teams have decided to open source the technology so other teams around the world can use it to connect athletes and fans within touching distance despite the likely lack of fan presence at the Games.

More details will be coming on how to get our hands on one, but it is an awesome initiative to let fans encourage our athletes from so far away.
